Are you curious if your child has warning signs of dyslexia? Please refer to the checklist below, which is broken down by individual age categories. If your child has three or more warning signs in one category, I encourage you to learn more about dyslexia and consider signing up for a screening.
This video https://bartonreading.com/video/dyslexia-symptoms-solutions/ is an excellent starting point.
Montana Learning Solutions recommends that all students without a formal educational evaluation be screened for dyslexia. This screening is not a requirement to begin intervention services, only a recommendation to gain further insight into the student's strengths and weaknesses.
Screenings will last approximately 1.5 hours and will include both the Neurolearning and Barton screener. The student will also receive a personalized list of recommended accommodations that would aid in school success once the data has been reviewed.
NeuroLearning‘s app-based assessment is a fantastic way to quickly get objective data. This test uses a high-tech approach to identify challenges in four key brain processes and four key reading skills to determine the student’s overall dyslexia risk. The screener is scored instantaneously but is then reviewed and analyzed by the doctors at NeuroLearning for a personalized report. I will also analyze the report to determine if the student is a good fit for the MLS curricula.
The Barton screener is a mandatory prerequisite before beginning the Barton Reading & Spelling System. It is the shorter of the two screenings and can also be coupled into a student's first session if they do not wish to take the Neurolearning Screener.
